Sergey A. Toropov is a biologist by degree. He worked as head of the Zoological Museum of the Kyrgyz State University, worked as chief of the ichthyological service department of the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan Basin Department of Fisheries Protection. As a professional entomologist, in co - authorship with Alexander Zhdanko, he published 4 volumes of illustrated color atlases about the butterflies of Alai-Pamirs, Tian Shan, Turan Desert and Southern Altai Mountains. Later on, he published 4 volumes of illustrated color atlases of the birds of Pamir-Alai and Tien Shan. Currently 4 volumes of illustrated color atlases on wildflowers of Alai - Pamirs, Tien Shan, Turan Desert and Southern Altai Mountains are being prepared for printing. During 25 years he was organizing and conducting entomological and ornithological expeditions with specialists from different countries on the territory of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Sergey N. Zenin is a pilot engineer by education. He worked as a pilot on international and domestic lines. Currently engaged in the study and cultivation of wild flowering plants. In a private nursery in the foothills of the Alexander Mt.Range in Kyrgyzstan, Sergei Zenin grows more than 75 species of Irises, 32 species of Crocuses, 25 species of Tulips, 22 species of Fritillaria, 60 species of Onions and 15 species of Colchicum.All this variety of plants in the wild grows in the mountains of the Alai-Pamirs, Tien Shan, the Caucasus and the Mediterranean. Over the course of 10 years, Sergey Zenin carried out more than 30 expeditions, often with specialists from other countries, in which he observed vegetation, flowering and studied the distribution of various plant species in the Tien Shan and Alai-Pamirs Mountains. During the expeditions, a wealth of scientific material and a large number of photographs were accumulated.
